Since eBay's announcement on March 24 regarding digital downloads, there have been alot of questions about the rules for placing classified ads. Keep in mind that eBay has not banned digital items and eBooks, only the way they are delivered. Sellers are still free to list these items but they may only be delivered to the buyer via snail mail on a CD or as a hard copy. (No funny business with your listings regarding "email me for how to get this faster" or "free shipping" - eBay will pull your listing if you try to get around the new policy and intend to deliver the item electronically.
So, here is the quick and dirty checklist regarding eBay's classified ads.![]()
1) Classified ads cost $9.95 a month per ad. No final value fees.
2) Outside links are allowed in classified ads.
3) Classified ads show up in store inventory and in searches.
4) Multiple items may be listed on one classified ad. According to Brian Burke, eBay's Trust and Safety Director "Sellers can take advantage of the special benefits of using this format. For instance, you can combine multiple similar items in the same Classified Ad. If you sell standard listing templates, for example, you can include all your listing templates in the same ad. If you also sell eBooks on how to list, you must use a separate ad (you would likely do this anyway in order to target your buyers)."
If your store contains items that require digital delivery, you do not need to manually end those listings. eBay will take care of that for you on March 31. If your listing was not due to expire, eBay will refund the unused portion of your listing fees.
