The word on my eBay groups and forums today is, "Do I bother working on my eBay store this weekend with Superbowl Sunday? Will anyone even be on eBay to buy anything?" My answer, "Absolutely!"
1) Not everyone watches the Superbowl. Plenty of people will be shopping online.
2) Remember, eBay is globally pervasive. More than just Americans will be shopping on eBay USA. Some don't even know what a superbowl is.
3) Auction sniping. The diehard eBay enthusiasts use auction sniping programs to win items on eBay. Their auction sniping programs can be bidding on their auctions while they are watching the Superbowl.
4) Getting your items listed is what is most important. Shoppers can't buy what they can't see.
I'd love to see some stats on how many anti-football wives are spening time on eBay while the DH is in the other room watching the game.
