eBay Sellers Organizing Strike for Week of February 18

According to a discussion on the eBay Forums called "The Soapbox," sellers are organizing a strike for the week of February 18-25. This coincides with the date that the new fees become effective, February 20. In the discussion thread, sellers talk about pulling all of their listings that week, or timing auctions so that none will come due during that time.

Of course, there are two sides to every story. Some sellers are fuming mad about the fee increases and feedback changes, calling eBay a sinking ship, and the fee changes the "eBay juggernaut." Others are more calm, siding with eBay, and eBay%20sellers%20on%20strike.jpgproclaming that those who are unhappy can leave. eBay isn't holding a gun to anyone's head. One seller said, "fish or cut bait, but quit whining and get on with your life. Nothing stays the same forever. Adapt or go sell somewhere else."

Sellers are equally divided on the changes in feedback. Sellers will no longer be able to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Sellers call this "feedback extortion" and many claim they just won't leave feedback for buyers at all. Others say it really doesn't matter, they don't leave many negatives anyway.

If this supposed strike comes to fruition, will you participate? Is it worth shutting down your business for a week to prove a point to eBay?

A bad day on eBay is better than a good day at the office. If people are so against eBay, why don't they just leave?

I have to agree with the "fish or cut bait" comment. What's the point of a strike if you're going to come back to ebay in a week anyway? If you're not happy, find another place to sell - or find another hobby because it doesn't sound like you're treating this as a business. If you plan to stay on ebay, adapt and get on with it. Life happens.

They need sellers as well as buyers, but they are getting greedy, the more they go up, the more sellers myself included, may have to stop selling on ebay. If I stop selling on ebay, I stop buying on ebay as well.
