eBay Changes Feedback System - Stop the Insanity

In the past few days since the feedback change announcement, the eBay groups and forums have been sheer chaos. Sellers are literally freaking out over the change, which will strip eBay sellers of the ability to leave negative or neutral feedback for buyers. Sellers fear that once buyers realize that they can leave feedback withhout the fear of retaliatory feedback from sellers, the eBay system will go haywire. I had an epiphany about this today.

On December 15, I wrote a post here on Power Seller King titled, "Buyers, Would it Kill Ya to Leave Feedback?" The post explained that it is like pulling teeth to get buyers to leave feedback after a transaction. We send email remiders, we beg, we plead, but buyers just aren't too excited about leaving feedback. In my experience, only about 50% of my buyers leave feedback after a transaction, and sometimes it takes weeks for them to get around to doing it. I think buyers see leaving feedback as a hassle or just don't care to do it.

Sellers, get a grip on reality here. Do you honestly think that now that buyers stop%20sign.jpghave the ability to leave a negative for a seller without receiving a negative back in return, that they are all just going to rush right to their computers and start arbitrarily leaving negatives for us? What purpose would that serve? What benefit do buyers derive from doing this? Just because they can, doesn't mean they will. As I have said before, if you are doing everything right as a seller, you don't have anything to worry about.

I am also a big believer in the Law of Attraction which states, "You attract into your life that which you think about." If you think you're going to encounter a bunch of angry, vindictive, mean-spirited people on eBay, that is probably what you will get. On the other hand, if you believe that people are inherently good, and you expect positive things to happen, they will. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I couldn't agree more! If angry sellers would take all that energy and put it into listing and providing excellent customer service, they wouldn't have anything at all to worry about.

Thanks for the excellent post.
