On my post from Christmas Day, I explained the most obvious way to make money with unwanted gift cards - sell them on eBay. There is another, possibly more lucrative way to make money with unwanted gift cards. Buy inventory to sell on eBay.
For example, let's say you received a gift card to Home Depot. If you're like me, you know nothing about home repair, and don't care to. Now is the time to take a trip to Home Depot and check out their year-end clearance items. You may be 
able to find items with drastically reduced prices that you can purchase with that gift card and re-sell on eBay. It is possible to profit more using this technique than by selling the gift card outright.
Before you go loading up your cart with plumbing and roofing supplies, do your homework. Visit the store and see what is on clearance. Then, check eBay for how well those items are selling. You'll want to look for small electronics, power tools, and faucet sets. Just remember, you're going to have to ship the item, so keep that in mind when making your purchases.
