eBay URLs can be long, complex, cumbersome, and downright overwhelming to deal with. If you're an eBay seller who participates in online forums, groups, or discussion boards, you are often required to use a shortened version of long eBay URLs when posting links to auctions, completed listings, or search results. Using a shortened URL on message boards, forums, and groups allows the sites to load faster, takes up less storage space, looks more visually appealing, and can reduce errors when posting links.
Now, there is a new resource for eBay sellers for shortening those long, cumbersome eBay URLs. eBurl is a free service. What an easy name to remember - jus think, "ebay + URL = eburl." Simply visit the site, eburl.net, enter the eBay URL, click "burlize" and you will receive a short, portable, friendly URL to use on your groups, forums, message boards, signature, social networking sites, or anywhere else on the internet. I tested eBurl and the service is free, very fast, and simple to use.
eburl also allows users to customize the new, shortened URL. I really like the custom URL feature as it allows users to create a URL that makes sense and is easy to remember. I can see this option working well for sellers who sell the same product over and over such as eBooks or digital media. eburlize your listing once and use it over and over again.
The custom eburl option will work wonderfully when adding a specific eBay product link, about me page link, or store page link to signatures on forums and groups. Instead of just a string of random characters, the eburl URL will make sense and viewers will know a little bit about the link before clicking it. I've noticed on groups and forums that users avoid clicking a shortened URL with random characters because they are suspicious of where it may take them.
eburl also provides stats and tracking information on your eburlized links. Users are able to see the number of clicks and referrers, providing valuable information about traffic.

This sounds like a great idea since I am on many forums, however I tried it and couldn't get it to work for me.
