Atlantans, Georgians, and the nation were shocked and saddened by the disappearance and subsequent death of Atlanta resident, Meredith Emerson, the 24-year old hiker who was found in the North Georgia mountains in early January 2008. Ms. Emerson was a fan of the music group "The Indigo Girls," who is extending their sympathy and support to Emerson's family by auctioning autographed lyrics on eBay.
Autographed lyrics to the song, "The Power of Two" are up for sale on eBay. As of this writing, the current price of the item is $1,925, with 43 bids and 20 unique bidders. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to PAWS Atlanta, a no-kill animal shelter. Ms. Emerson was an avid animal lover and her dog, Ella, was with her when she disappeared on January 1. (Ella was found unharmed and is now in the care of Ms. Emerson's family.) ![]()
On a personal note, as an Atlanta resident, I have been closely following the news stories about Ms. Emerson's disappearance and death. I extend my deepest condolences to Ms. Emerson's family, friends, and loved ones. Based on news stories and articles in local media, Ms. Emerson was a shining light in this world, and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew her.
