A good picture on eBay is essential to getting a sale. I really am not interested in buying something that is displayed on someone's kitchen floor (next to the dog food), on their couch, or on their rumpled, unmade bed. Presentation is everything on eBay. You don't have to have access to a photo studio for your photos to look professional.
