Search for thrift stores in their national directory with 7800 charity driven thrift stores across the USA, join the online forum, read the Online Thrift Shopper Magazine, and even learn how to operate your own thrift store. 
I browsed the forums and members discuss specific collectibles, redesigning and recycling thrift store clothing, and discuss sales, specials, and discounts at national thrift stores. The forums are free. Some of the members at the Thrift Shopper resell on eBay, some don't, but everyone seems helpful and knowledgeable about their specific thrift niche.
