eBay announced the long awaited seller fee changes today. Insertion fees have been reduced, but final value fees have been increased. Changes will apply to auction style, fixed price, and store inventory fees.
I ran a quick analysis on my January sales and the numbers show that with the new changes, my January fees would have been $28 more under the new pricing configuration. The benefit is that listing fees are reduced (my listing fees would be about half under the new plan), so the seller is paying less out of his pocket before the sale.
I consider eBay listing fees as advertising - the same as you would consider having to pay for an ad in a newspaper regardless of if your
item sells. You're not going to reach a single buyer on eBay without listing your item, and you have to pay to play on eBay. The big chunk of fees is applied after the sale, once the buyer has (hopefully) paid. View the fee change chart. That works for me.
