Why All eBay Sellers Need Their Own Blog
Blogs are a fun, free, effective marketing tool. eBay sellers are now using blogs to promote their eBay stores and to create a presence on the internet to share their expertise. For example, “Inside Collecting” is a blog by Dan Taylor, an eBay seller who writes about interesting collectibles he sells on eBay.  blogger.gif

Dan provides valuable information about collectibles and vintage items. He uses his blog to create a relationship with other eBay buyers and sellers, his customers, and most importantly, his potential customers. The focus of the blog isn’t Dan’s eBay store, but it is a place to share his knowledge and expertise about collecting.

A blog provides a venue where you and interact with your customers and your target market. Your customers have a voice, they can converse with you and give you feedback in a casual non-threatening arena. Your visitors can also chat with each other.

If you are an eBay seller, consider starting a blog where you can incorporate information about your eBay store and share your expertise about your products or services. You can start a blog at websites like blogger.com, wordpress.com, or typepad.com.

This is in fact a great idea.

Thanks for visiting, Sir Jorge. Can you share how your blog has helped your business?

I like to use Ebay's free blogging system.

Hi, Greg, thanks for visiting. The eBay community blog is ok for casually chatting with other sellers, but it in no way compares to having your own blog for self-promotion. eBay monitors the community blog and your posts can be deleted if eBay doesn't like your topic of discussion or your outgoing links. Your audience is limited to eBay members who read the eBay community blog.

Blogger and WordPress (among others) offer free blogging platforms. Some advantages of having your own blog include:

1) Freedom of speech. You can discuss whatever you like without fear of Big Brother deleting your post.

2) Unlimited potential audience. The world is your oyster. You aren't limited to the eBay sector of the internet.

3) Income earning potential. You can ad programs like Google Adsense, affiliate programs, or even sell add space on your blog to earn money.

4) Links. You can link to whomever you like, whenever you like.

Having your own blog can be a very powerful and free marketing tool.
