As technology continues to evolve, eBay sellers are adding flash, video, and audio to their listings. eBay technology supports these options, but are these options always a good thing? A few drawbacks to these advanced applications:
Listings with flash, video, or music may take longer to load on the customer’s computer depending on the age of the computer and their internet connection. Potential buyers may click away if the item loads too slowly. Using flash may require the user to download a flash player or application. Remember that buyers are in a hurry and are looking at many eBay listings, not just yours. eBay users spend seconds, not minutes reading a listing before moving on. The potential buyer may not want to take the time to download the required application. Frustrated users may click away and move on to a listing that loads faster. Many internet users find music annoying. Consider the user’s experience when viewing the listing. Furthermore, many users (myself included) keep their speakers turned off to avoid distractions. Employees sneaking in some eBay time at work may also have the sound turned off to avoid detection. Potential buyers may not even hear the music or video when viewing your listing.
As a seller, you must find the fine line between using available technology and enhancing the user experience. Too much “junk” can drive users to move on to the next listing.

Adding video in addition to photos in your eBay listings is an effective way to sell products quick!
Video:
(a) Reduces risk to the buyer by providing a 360 degree look at the product being evaluated.
(b) Offers you (the Power Seller) an opportunity to present addition features that cannot be easily demonstrated by textual means. These elements might be flexibility of the product, easy of use, texture, etc.
(c) Easier than ever to add to eBay. You can use YouTube.com or AzoocaCapture.com to quickly add product videos in your listing.
If you are a true Power Seller, you are probably already using video.
Good Hunting, Power Sellers!
