Sellers have mixed opinions on using the Buy it Now option their auctions. Some do not use BIN because they like the exposure they get to potential buyers for the full duration of the listing (5 days, 7 days, or 10 days). Others, like me, use BIN religiously. I offer BIN on 98% of my auction listings for several reasons:
2) Someone may need the item to give as a gift and he has waited until the last minute to shop.
3) A shopper may be preparing for a vacation or business trip and need the item immediately.4) Some people are always in a hurry – they want their items immediately! Not everyone on eBay is there for the auctions. They just want a good product at a bargain price.
Many sellers don’t offer BIN, so the customers in the above situations can find my auctions, see the BIN option, and buy from me. I am giving buyers options and helping them solve a problem. As for the other 2% of my auctions, I don’t add BIN if the item is a collectible and I am not comfortable using a fixed price. Sometimes, bidding wars on collectibles can cause the price to go much higher than you expected – so you don’t want to shortchange yourself by setting a cap on the price with a BIN.
