As an eBay power seller and consultant, I am often asked, "How can I get bids on my items? My items end with zero bids."
Use this checklist when creating your eBay listing.![]()
1) A good, clear photo is essential. If the buyer can't see the item, he isn't going to buy it. Show details, post multiple photos, and edit your photo removing distracting backgrounds. You may have to take the photo more than once to get a clear shot.
2) Make sure your item is listed in the correct category. Take your time and proofread your listings. If you aren't sure which category to list your item in, look up similar items by other sellers and see which categories they are using. Many shoppers browse categories rather than searching for key words. You want to make sure your item is in the correct category.
3) Use correct key words. eBay gives you 55 characters to work with. Don't waste them buy using silly characters or words such as, L@@K, WOW!!, or KEWL. Shoppers won't be searching for those words so don't waste the space.
4) Have a fair return policy. Give potential buyers options.
5) Always answer questions promptly and professionally. Many sellers don't answer questions at all. eBay buyers have learned to move on to the next seller if their question isn't answered in a reasonable amount of time.
6) Treat customers the way you would like to be treated as a customer.
