We've survived the holidays. I'm seeing nothing but ads for sales in the newspaper, on tv, and on the internet. If you are an eBay seller, this is a good thing. Many sellers who make their living on eBay take advantage of year-end clearance sales for these reasons:
1) Inventory is cheap. Look at stores like TJ Maxx, Ross, and Marshalls where items are already discounted. You will find incredible deals.
2) Retailers want to move the inventory to get it off the books for the current year. Some online retailers are still offering free shipping until December 31.
3) eBay sales may be slow. Now is a good time to take a break from listing and take advantage of sales and re-stock your store after Christmas.
4) Many people are not working their "real" job during the week between Christmas and New Years - use this time to wisely shop for inventory and take advantage of sales.
5) Even thrift stores such as Goodwill and Salvation Army put winter items on clearance to prepare to switch over to spring clothing. Their space is limited and they must make room on the sales floor.
