Shipping Sidekick eBay Shipping Tool

Sponsored Review of ShippingSidekick.com

One of the biggest headaches of operating an eBay Business is deciding which shipping company is the best choice based on all of the unique variables related to a product.

shippingsidekick.gifExperienced eBay sellers know that the best option for shipping a one pound package may not be the same as the best option for shipping a five or ten pound package.

That is where Shipping Sidekick, a MUST for eBay sellers, small businesses and anyone who wants to get the best shipping rates instantly, comes into play.

For a small monthly fee, Shipping Sidekick allows you to instantly compare shipping rates from the four major U.S. carriers including USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL.

Having all of the rates on one site allows you to not only choose the best rates, but also save time by not having to check the rates at multiple sites.

RedRoller is a competitor in this arena, but Shipping Sidekick is a far better product because RedRoller only shows prices from two carriers, USPS and DHL.

Streamlining your shipping process and cutting shipping costs will offer you more time to list products on eBay. It seems that the savings alone would easily pay for the monthly charge of $14.95.

You can check out Shipping Sidekick with a free 14 day trial. Let us know how you like it.

Wow, I didn't know there was a service like this...you'd think eBay would have made a service like this.

1) RedRoller includes four carriers right now; not two; the two other carriers are Eastern Connection and Overnite Express.

2) RedRoller is FREE! Shipping Sidekick charges $14.95 a month to just provide rates.

3) RedRoller lets you print a shipping label, keep your history in one place, track your packages, and use one address book.

4) RedRoller offers discounted rates; Shipping Sidekick takes you to the carrier site where you could pay 30-50% more than RedRoller rates.

5) RedRoller offers services, like DHL@home, not even available on the DHL site. These rates for shipping to residences offer a huge value to eBay shippers.

It is kind of ridiculous to have a service like this, especially to pay for, when shipping rates are so easy to compare.
I made a spreadsheet comparing USPS UPS and USPS shipping rates. You can check it out at http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=p1VFgSEE6TfdcUWRQ2CwJeQ

Hope this saves everyone from buying a subscription.

Of course this is not so difficult to compare such shipping rates. But when you want to ship somewhere else than to US, this is more difficult. Many times I stopped a bid on eBay because shipping rates where too expensive to Europe.
Compare Shipping Rates works from and to many countries (it's still beta for now, and many countries are regulary added) and works in real time using SOAP APIs.

And this is free.

That Euro calculator is helpful! The spreadsheet thing is pretty useless; those rates would only apply to those specific destination and orgins; they are often very different for the just a little bit farter away. The red rollersite also seems pretty much a joke. Um, hello...where is UPS? I don't know how you can have a rate comparison site and not include the biggest shipper in the world. And finally, is that Scott Baeo on the front of Shipping Sidekick? I think they could have found a bit cooler front page guy. Other than that, I can see how this could be useful. I was surprised FedEx was the low bidder on my test package (never thought I'd see that happen). Conclusion:

Euro calculator: Useful!
Speedsheet thing: Not Useful!
red roller: a joke
shipping sidekick: Useful!

Go Chiefs!

I went to check redroller and it didnt have the prices for UPS or Fedex, so I looked into http://www.shippingsidekick.com and it had all four major shipping companies so it was easier to compare shipping rates.
