When it comes to product sourcing, I suggest starting with a product that you know something about.
If your work or hobby has to do with a particular type of product, start with that and see if there is a market for that type of item on eBay. You can easily do some product research by using eBay's search function, but if you are looking to make eBay a long term part of your online business strategy, I recommend signing up for Terapeak.
Terapeak gives you a ton of research information into keywords and product names, a bit of a crystal ball when it comes to selling price and sell through rates.
I'm glad you provided a resource for people who want to add or expand their eBay work and commented on those ads that advertise getting the latest best-selling name brand products at wholesale prices. That would be nice of course, but doesn't seem likely, unfortunately.
