As promised, this is the update for last week's listing for the ball that made headlines. Barry Bonds, the man that is now above Babe Ruth in the number of Home Runs, and now holds 2nd place, has made one person very happy. The ball which landed in Mr. Morbitzer's hand has now been auctioned off, at an amazing price of nearly a quarter million dollars. $220,100 to be exact, and that is a tidy sum for a little ball, but for baseball fans wishing to own a piece of baseball, this was their chance.
So what is the point of owning such a ball? For one, it was Barry's 715th ball, it has set a record, and it did make waves through the Baseball community. Was there any other incentive to buy the ball? Actually, for those that were looking for memorabilia based on the person's intentioned on what to do with the money, 10% of the money ($22,010), is going to the Big Brothers Big Sisters(BBBS), which helps boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 18, by providing a mentor through a Big Brother, or Big Sister.
Selling facts:
The highest bidder was 52817. All buyers did have to be approved, and there was a total of 69 bids, with heated bidding at the end between two users; 52817, and 8656tom. In the end though, 52817 beat 8656tom's bid by $100, making him the winner.
