With eBay users now putting videos of their "merchandise or information about merchandise" on eBay, this brings on new concern for parents and/or anti-porn individuals wishing to keep the Internet safe. Porn sites and people wishing to attract people to things other than what is on their auction can now use video to bring in people from auctions, and right to their site. So how do you stop it? You don't; people have the right to put video on their sites. But you can monitor what your kids look at, or even what you look at for that matter. You can use your tools in your browser to help block sites, and you can also monitor what your kids are searching for by using certain tools. In general, you shouldn't let them search sites alone if there is no structured plan. This keeps them from stumbling onto a site that has a less than perfect reputation.
Videos are a great way to help people sell stuff. Videos allow the user to put their auction higher on the list because more people will want to view it. If you can put video on your auction, I strongly advise you do. Most people will be putting regular video of their products on there. Others won't, and that is where the problem comes. I am not downplaying video on auctions at all, just advising parents to be cautious about what their kids are viewing when looking on eBay. Safe item hunting,
