Bloomberg Interviews Meg Whitman - Post eBay Fee Increase

meg.jpgThis is the most idiotic logic I have ever heard in my life.

eBay is basically saying...

We want to reinvigorate the auction business (which has already been priced out of the real world) and in order to do that we are going to simply charge too much for our other services.

Listen to eBay CEO, Meg Whitman here.

eBay is raising fees for online stores that have been diverting traffic from its auctions. The San Jose company did meet Wall Street expectations for earnings. Investors are concerned about growth and the recent executive shuffle.

CEO Meg Whitman tells Bloomberg News she's here to stay.

Vintage Meg Whitman interview on The Charlie Rose Show. Verrrry Interesting!

Charlie Rose "This is not a genius idea, well it's a genius idea, but it's a simple idea"

Meg "It's a very simple idea"

What Meg doesn't seem to get - among many things - is that the store vendors run huge numbers of auctions. Not to make money...because most times they don't. They run auctions to promote their stores, obtain new customers, and sell backend from stores.

Squeezing stores will simply result in less auctions. Less store inventory + less auctions will = less buyers. Its a downward spiral that will be very difficult to reverse once in motion.

Squeezing stores will simply result in FEWER auctions. Less store inventory + FEWER auctions will = FEWER buyers. Its a downward spiral that will be very difficult to reverse once in motion - GET WITH THE GRAMMAR! :)

Ebay has really gone overbaord with so many rates increases for the last year or two. And then they say "Our profits are up". Well, yeah...

It seems that ioffer.com offers same protection as ebay and more easy
to use user interface. As well as buyer and seller friendly community
and free listing fee. See review at http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews92911.html

Seller could compare the fee for ioffer.com at
http://www.ioffer.com/info/fees_and_credit_policy

with ebay complex fee scheme at http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/fees.html

As most wholesale seller, their profit margin is only 15%, ebay fee
will take you 9%, and ioffer.com is
flat fee per month $40 + 1.5%total transaction fee. Which one make
more sense? Does seller work for
ebay or ebay help seller?
