Red Roller Compares Shipping Methods

RedRoller.gifRed Roller is a shipping comparison site that allows you to enter your package details into the Red Roller engine and Red Roller then gives you a price and service comparison for USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL.

The service is still in beta, but it looks very promising especially since it integrates with eBay and allows you to print postage from the carrier of your choice.

The service is also free.

I did a quick package entry from Seattle to Washington DC and found prices ranging from $1.73 to $69.73 and delivery times from 1 to 9 days.

From the Red Roller Web Site:

We're the world's first Internet-based shopping service for shipping packages, and as if that's not enough, RedRoller is FREE. We help our customers make better shipping decisions by giving them the power to quickly compare the rates and services of top carriers and then ship with all of them from one location. You might say RedRoller is a revolution in the evolution of shipping!

Red Herring: Red Roller, another company trying to make a web service out of a somewhat low-tech industry, launched last week at eBay’s conference in Las Vegas.   The Norwalk, Connecticut-based company, which has also been in the works for... [Read More]

Red Roller stopped putting UPS rates in their price comparisons. They post discounted DHL rates to drive traffic toward DHL. This is a violation of the DHL reseller rules and will likely be discountinued. If DHL does not force Red Roller to stop posting discounted DHL rates on the web other sites will start offering even bigger DHL discounts.

Paul Buisson who posted last runs www.shipandfreight.com (which appears to be offline now). If Paul was honest I think he would have mentioned that. It's obvious bias.

I've found that http://www.shippingsidekick.com is more useful. Not only does it compare DHL and USPS, but Fedex and UPS as well. It also shows you when the package will arrive, so you can figure out exactly when it will arrive and for how much.

You may also check
Compare Shipping Rates. This is free, quite a bit new, but provides free SOAP api for real time rate at checkout.
You have a form to get multiple rates to multiple countries, for eBay sellers.

Red Roller sucks! All I got was post office and DHL rates.

Does it expedite the process of shipping a massive amount of varying packages or is it just a glorified 'shipping options' system? PayPal's MultiOrder Shipping System keeps giving XML Request Errors every other day & it's starting to affect our ability to quickly ship orders via USPS.

Redroller sucks! No UPS or Fedex. I dont think i will start shipping with DHL any day... They say they are the first in the world to do what they do and that is bull****. Its just that Fedex and UPD does not allow it! Fedex and UPS dont like to be associated with other people and they dont need redroller to get business.
