Weddings aren't usually the time to be thrifty.
But Ashley Purvis saved a bundle on her May 26 wedding this year by shopping on the popular Internet auction site eBay.
"I got my wedding dress, my veil, the tiara, the ring-bearer's tux, the flower girl's dress," said Purvis, a Louisville dental assistant. "We got the invitations off eBay, too, and my bridal bouquet. Yeah, it was crazy. We saved a whole lot of money."
Her wedding gown, of matte satin with a beaded top, chapel train and corset back designed for Chic Bridal, was priced at $500 on the store's Web site, www.chicbridal.com, but sold for $161 on eBay.
"Brand new, straight from the factory," Purvis said.
