Landed in Las Vegas at 3:00 pm Monday afternoon. Experienced the 5-mile long snake known as the Las Vegas Airport Taxi Line (it moves fast). Endured a quick taxi ride with a driver from Romania who gave me the condensed history of his country in only five minutes (my head is still spinning Elena and Nikolai!). Was dropped off at the wrong hotel entrance but checked in anyway and then schlepped my sorry carcass to other Mandalay Bay hotel tower known as THE Hotel (I have no idea why it is "THE Hotel." Does that mean the other tower is "A Hotel?") After dropping my bags off in my room, I made my way downstairs to the House Of Blues to the Education Specialist Dinner.
Last year in San Jose, we had about 50 Specialists attend the dinner. Last night there were over 200 in attendance! We had a great time before dinner was served meeting up and taking pictures of one another. A special treat for me was meeting the newest of the newest eBay Education Specialists, Donna Bond (1968titans). Donna sells WAY cool stuff under her eBay Store name, Donna's Fashion Diva Boutique. That's Donna (and my grandfather) in the first photo. Donna hails from beautiful Murfreesboro, Tennessee; a town which I am proud to say I have visited and enjoyed. All of the other Specialists were very proud to have Donna there as the latest trainer to join the program and it was definitely a memorable pleasure meeting her.
The second photo is of Marilyn from Oahu. She is one of only FOUR specialists in Hawaii! Obviously, there is room for more educators in Hawaii. Hint Hint.
A special thanks to Mike Rudolph and Sharon Guldner for a wonderful dinner event and a chance for all of us educators to meet, catch up and share a few laughs.
This morning I led the attendee orientation meeting which went smoothly. There is some concern among some attendees that they might not be able to attend some classes that are guaranteed to fill up sooner than expected. My advice to all is to get to those classes and seminars as early as possible to guarantee you get a seat!
This place is huge. More so than at past eBay Live events, I am certain all 15,000 of us will have walked at least 30 miles by the time Thursday rolls along. Who knows? I might even lose some weight!
